We honor our veterans for their bravery and because by seeing death on the battlefield, they know the greatness of life. (Winnebago Elder)

An American debt of gratitude is long overdue. Will a generation of Vietnam veterans ever be recognized for their patriotic service?

Decades after the United States ceased combat in Vietnam, it is estimated that almost two-thirds of the Americans who served there, or 1,750,000 soldiers, still have a difficult time reconciling their Vietnam service. COMING HOME HEROES is asking Native American Vietnam veterans to once again serve America by telling their combat stories. By sharing their experiences they can help heal the wounds of an unpopular war.

America's original warriors can also help educate Americans about what it was like to be on the ground in Vietnam, what it took to survive, and what it was like to come home a Vietnam veteran. With the alarming rate of suicides by young veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, your words need to be heard by these young soldiers. Words that say, "look, we know what you've been through and we can help, we can work together." (Jack Quincy-NIVA).
